My go-to remedy for colds that also helps burn fat!

Priscilla had a bad cough and I have it now...so this is my go- to when colds hit and it helos to burn fat too!

I brew green tea with a piece of fresh ginger. When ready and on my cup I add
A TBSP of honey, juice of one lemon, 1/8 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp ground tumeric.

Try it!

Knowing, trusting, and treasuring God's love for us: changes everything. It changes de way we see Him, the way we see people, the way we look and think about ourselves. It changes the way we go through life's problems and the way we celebrate his blessings.  We trust Him and treasure Him both in good and bad times. Nothing compares to knowing his love.

There is a place for sound judgement between good and bad and for good discernment to learn from the mistakes of others. But we should strive to use this in the name of loving God and loving others, not harming them with our words. The more judgmental we are, the more insecure we will be, and the more gossip will come out of our mouths to evade the darkness in our own souls, and the more we do that the more bitter we will be. 
The more insecure we are the more judgemental we will be, trying to put the focus on other people's failings, short comings and defects to avoid the painful truth that we are as imperfect as the rest.
Its such a horrible cycle, an invasive illness in the soul.
But there is hope for our seemingly hopeless state. Jesus is our hope to free us from the bondage of the false comfort of gossip, insecurity, bitterness, and a judgmental heart. There is grace that sets us free and empowers us to love and serve others despite of themselves and despite of ourselves.

Matthew 7:3-5 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.


El buen discernimiento entre el bien y el mal es importante para aprender de los errores de los demás pero debemos tener en mente el hacer esto para amar a Dios y amar a los demás, no para dañar a otros con nuestras palabras. Entre mas juzgamos mas inseguros seremos de nosotros mismo y mas chisme saldrá de nuestra boca para evadir la oscuridad que hay en nuestra propia alma y entre mas hacemos esto mas amargura habrá en nuestro corazón. Entre mas inseguros seamos mas juzgaremos a los demás, tratando de enfocar los defectos y errores de los demás para esconder la dolorosa verdad de que somos igual de imperfectos que los demás. Es un ciclo horrible, una enfermedad en el alma.

Pero hay esperanza. Hay esperanza en Jesus. El nos libera de la esclavitud
de la falsa comodidad que nos brinda el chisme, la inseguridad, la amargura y un corazón que tiende a juzgar a los demás. Hay gracia que nos libera y nos impulsa con Su poder para amar y servir a los demás a pesar de ellos y a pesar de nosotros mismos. Hay gracia en Cristo.

Mateo 7:3-5

¿Y por qué miras la mota[a] que está en el ojo de tu hermano, y no te das cuenta de la viga que está en tu propio ojo? ¿O cómo puedes decir[b] a tu hermano: “Déjame sacarte la mota del ojo”, cuando[c] la viga está en tu ojo? ¡Hipócrita! Saca primero la viga de tu ojo, y entonces verás con claridad para sacar la mota del ojo de tu hermano.

My lunch today

A can of tuna
A little red onion, chopped
A little yellow pepper, chopped
1Chopped avocado
1Chopped tomato
Juice of one lime
Salt +pepper
Dash of cumin
Dash of tumeric
Dash of cayenne pepper (if you like spicy food ;) )
Toast a slice of ezequiel bread and spread the tuna mixture over the toast!

What are you having for dinner tonight? I'm having a power foods salad :)


I usually eat my biggest meals at lunch time, dinner for me these days has been a power foods SALAD!
So the greens from the pictures below are from my friend Ana Bures' garden. She has a huge garden and plants all kind of things. Every opportunity she gets she is sharing her harvest with everyone around her! the other day I even took home some Stevia leaves from her garden and put them on my tea...so good! :)

So I usually buy (or get from her garden) a bunch of kale and chop it up. Then I put it on a big freezer ziplock bag and store it on my fridge for the whole week. Every night I take handfuls of the chopped
kale and make my salad. I have tried so many variations but this one is my favorite so far:

Recipe:

Handfuls of spinach, kale or any greens you like
Chopped tomatoes
Chopped mushrooms
Chopped onion (I prefer red onion)
Chickpeas/ Garbanzo beans 
half an avocado
light or fat-free feta cheese crumbled
drizzle of olive oil
drizzle of balsamic vinegar
sunflower seeds- Optional-
chopped and toasted almonds (i put them on my small oven for 5-8 minutes, chop the almonds in a food processor, and store them on an airtight container)

Mix all the ingredients and you have a delicious meal ready full of power foods!

If he has made me his own child, adopted by the sacrifice of Christ, how can I fear today and be anxious? He has done it all for me, how is he not going to take care of me...oh blessed assurance: I am His and He is mine!!!

Healthy Friday girls night hang out!

Who says you can't hang with friends, have fun and eat healthier snacks??
I had my friends Ana, Joanna and Sonya over two nights ago and we snacked on these healthier brownie cookies and tea :)
Ana brought some chopped strawberries and it went perfect with the cookies, it was Friday night, we could have some dessert ;)
Recipe:

Paleo Brownie Cookies
Prep time:  
Cook time:  
Total time:  
Serves: 10
 
Ingredients
  • ⅓ cup coconut flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ⅓ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 350F
  2. In a large bowl stir coconut flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt together with a fork, breaking up any lumps.
  3. In a medium bowl, mash the banana, add the eggs, honey and vanilla and stir well with a fork.
  4. Add the wet ingredients into the dry and stir well until incorporated. Add the chocolate chips.
  5. Drop batter by tablespoons onto a cookie sheet prepared with parchment paper.
  6. Bake 12-15 min until bottoms of cookies have slightly browned.

Time for dessert? Let's choose a healthy, creamy milk shake :)

I have this as a dessert/ snack, it is so creamy and tastes so good!!
My dear friend Leah came to my house a few days ago and brought all the ingredients so we could make chocolate "milkshakes" but so healthy! Thank you Leah ;)


This recipe makes 2 servings so pour half in a glass for you and store the rest in the fridge for later or share with a friend! :)

 1 avocado
 2 frozen bananas,
 1 can of organic coconut milk,
4TBSP cocoa powder , 
1-2 tsp of vanilla extract, 
1 tsp stevia or 1/2 TBSP pure maple syrup

Una deliciosa "malteada" que es mi alternativa cuando quiero postre :)
Mi amiga Leah vino hace unos días con los ingredientes para que lo hiciéramos juntas y como me gusto tanto le pedi la receta!
 Esta receta hace para dos personas así que si lo vas a tomar como un postre o un snack guarda la mitad en el refrió para después o comparte con un amigo/a

1 Aguacate
2 Bananos congelados
1 lata de leche de coco (organica si es posible)
4 Cucharadas de polvo de cocoa (el que no tiene sabor)
1- 2 cucharaditas de extracto de vainilla
1 cucharadita de Stevia or 1/2 cucharada de miel de maple pura

Good Morning!! Buenos Dias!!

How good it is to wake up in the morning KNOWING that we have a God who cares for us. He is a God who according to Psalm 119:24-32 gives us life, he answers us, helps us understand, sustains us. 
He is involved with us, with our problems and anxieties, when difficult situations bring us down. But He says: come to me, come to my word, I have delights for your soul. I know what you're going through, I want to give you a banquet of truths that refresh your soul.

And we read in Psalm 119:24-32

Your testimonies are my delight;
    they are my counselors. My soul clings to the dust;
 give me life according to your word!
When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes!
Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word! Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law! I have chosen the way of faithfulness;  set your rules before me. I cling to your testimonies, O Lord; let me not be put to shame! I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart![a]

Que Bueno es levantarnos en la mañana sabiendo que tenemos un Dios que se compadece
de nosotros. El es un Dios que de acuerdo a Salmo119:24-32 nos vivifica, nos responde, nos hace entender, nos sustenta. El esta involucrado con nosotros, con nuestros problemas y ansiedades, con las cosas por las que nos sentimos decaídos y muchas veces ni queremos levantarnos de la cama en la mañana. Pero El dice: ven, ven a mi Palabra, tengo delicias para tu alma, se lo que pasas, quiero
darte un banquete.

Y asi leemos Salmo 119:24-32:

Snack Option #5

This energy bites are so delicious and full of protein and I like them because they keep me full on busy days. I like to make them because the store-bought granola or energy bars are processed with added sugars and preservatives.
I usually have two of these balls when I need a snack. I freeze them so that I can just take two & thaw them for 20 min. 

Here's the recipe:

YIELD: ABOUT 3 DOZEN
NO BAKE ENERGY BITES
PREP: 10 MINS TOTAL: 10 MINS
INGREDIENTS:
         1 cup (dry) oatmeal (I used old-fashioned oats)
         2/3 cup toasted coconut flakes
         1/2 cup peanut butter
         1/2 cup ground flax seed
         1/2 cup chocolate chips or cacao nibs (optional)
         1/3 cup honey or agave nectar
         1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
         1 teaspoon vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS:
         Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed. Cover and let chill in the refrigerator for half an hour.
         Once chilled, roll into balls of whatever size you would like. (Mine were about 1" in diameter.) Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week or again in the freezer so they can last longer.
         Makes about 20-25 balls.


Estas bolitas de granola son deliciosas y me gustan porque estan llenas de proteina y me mantienen llena en dias ocupados.  A mi me gusta hacerlos en lugar de comprar barras de granola pues la mayoria de barras de granola que venden son procesadas con mucha azucar y otros preservantes. Cuando las hago las pongo en el congelador para que me duren mas y cuando voy a comerlas de merienda solo saco dos a la vez y las dejo descongelar por 15-20 minutos.
Aqui esta la receta:

1 Taza de hojuelas de avena
2/3 tazas de coco tostado y en hojuelas
1/2 taza de mantequilla de mani natural
1/2 taza de linaza molida
1/2 chips de chocolate o nibs de cacao (opcional)
1/3 taza de miel o agave nectar
1 cucharada semillas de chia
1 cucharadita de extracto de vainilla

Procedimiento:
Mezcla todos los ingredientes en un recipiente, cubre el recipiente y ponlo en el refrigerador por media hora. 
Después de la media hora haz bolitas con esa (masa). Puedes guardarlos en el refrigerador o en el congelador para que te duren mas.
Esta receta hace de 20  a 25 bolitas.
